My Old Home

Verse 1 When I went to the home of my childhood so dear,
Where I once loved so well to roam,
How sad and drear, no voice could I hear,
There was no one to welcome me home.
No one to welcome me home,
No one to welcome me home,
When I went to the place where I once loved to roam,
There was no one to welcome me home.

Verse 2 I there could not see my mother’s sweet face,
Nor my father’s kind voice could I hear,
How sad did I feel in that lonely “old place,”
Finding no one to welcome me there.
No one to welcome me home,
No one to welcome me home,
When I went to the place where I once loved to roam,
There was no one to welcome me home.

Verse 3 I went to the spring that was flowing so free,
And I drank of its waters so clear,
But lonely a voice would whisper to me,
“There is no one to welcome you here.”
No one to welcome me home,
No one to welcome me home,
When I went to the place where I once loved to roam,
There was no one to welcome me home.

Verse 4 Then I went to the place where I once loved to play,
But my playmates had ev’ry one gone,
And sadly a voice would whisper and say,
“There is no one to welcome you home.”
No one to welcome me home,
No one to welcome me home,
When I went to the place where I once loved to roam,
There was no one to welcome me home.

Verse 5 But when I shall reach that heavenly place,
The beautiful city so fair,
Where I shall behold my Redeemer’s face,
There’ll be some one to welcome me there.
Some one to welcome me there,
Into that city so fair,
When I shall behold those mansions of gold,
There’ll be some one to welcome me there.
